If you want to induce flow change the environment the students learn. Currently students sit in desks for long periods of time and listen to their teacher or professor give them a lecture, or even a lesson with a video or power point on occasion. As an example rather than talk about rockets to a student and show him/her a diagram give them a simple rocket to build with a way to view and take sensory data then give them the problem to work. As a student myself even with high interests in any subject matter. word problems and paper work will only allow the flow to go so far. (in other words augment the learning environment to offer a more interesting hands on experience.)

How do we enhance "the flow"? The "flow": as in that effortless "in the zone" feeling people experience when they're doing something they love and everything is clicking. This Washington Post article asks, "Might there be a way to force the brain into flow?" http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/health-science/zapping-the-brain-to-get-with-the-flow/2012/02/09/gIQAuiSeBR_story.html Personally, if I have to force the flow by strapping a 9-volt battery to my head, it just doesn't sound fun. I prefer a less complicated, more enjoyable way to achieve it: http://youtu.be/pg4JopL75jM :))) How do you enhance the "flow"?

”Without prescription drugs, many of these students might not have made it to college.”

http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/education/college-administrators-worry-that-use-of-prescription-stimulants-is-increasing/2011/10/18/gIQAKBPw2N_story.html

How do you feel about that? And what’s your experience? Because cognition enhancing prescription drugs rarely produce the kind of side effects that draw the attention of university health officials, there are few statistics on how prevalent they are. But anecdotally, they are now so common on campus that I wonder if we’ve already enrolled our first classes of enhanced humans — especially in competitive areas like law school.
